A Call for Change

 Let’s get straight to the heart of the matter. I’m fed up with the elite political class, who seem to base their decisions on campaign donations and their own political ambitions. Meanwhile, my opponents are outspending me by a staggering 100 to 1! Imagine that—I was even told by a potential campaign manager, “Don’t bother coming to see me until you’ve got $400,000 in the bank!” It’s enough to make anyone’s head spin. No wonder everyday citizens rarely find their way into the political arena.

But here’s where I stand: I’ve been in the trenches alongside fellow citizens since 2013. Together, we’ve been making a difference in the historic Westside and throughout our city. I’ve collaborated with Communities in Schools and social workers, ensuring that kids not only have school supplies but also clothing, hygiene items, and enough food to keep them from going hungry on weekends.

And it doesn’t stop there. I’ve partnered with several nonprofits to provide essential resources—food, clothing, and hygiene items—to seniors, low-income individuals, and those without homes. Every Monday, I join a dedicated group of people to serve up to 500 hot, nutritious meals at the Courtyard. The number of families—some with small children, others with seniors and disabled members—keeps growing.

My resume isn’t filled with elite social gatherings; instead, it’s a testament to hard work. I’ve held down a full-time job (and sometimes two) while serving the citizens of our district. But despite our efforts, living conditions haven’t improved significantly. Our safety and health services are failing us. My goal? To see better-staffed police, responsive 911 services, and robust social programs that truly serve the people.
